What Must be Added to Each Term of the Ratio 2:5 so that it May Equal to 5:6?

  • 1 Answer(s)

    Answer: (3) 13

    Explanation:-
    Let the X be added to each term.
    Then, (2 + X)/(5 + X) = 5/6
    by cross multiplication,
    6 x (2 + X) = 5 x (5 + X)
    12 + 6 X = 25 + 5X
    6 X – 5X = 25 – 12
    X = 13
    Then, 13 must be added to each term of the ratio 2: 5 so that it may equal to 5:6.

    Hence, the answer is (3) 13.
