Followers of Haji Shariatullah

Followers of Haji Shariatullah known as the Faraizi, the means of Faraizi is ‘Duties’. After 20 years, In 1818 when Haji Shariatullah come back to his country from Mecca, at that time the condition of Bengali Muslim was very pathetic.  Faraizi movement is a reform movement targeted the most depressed class of the Muslims.

Haji Shariatullah (1781-1840) Banderlakola, Faridpur (now in Bangladesh). After his basic education he went to Arab at the age  of 18. There Haji Shariatullah learnt Arabic and Persian and got his religious education from teacher Maulana Basharat.
