Which country succeed in extracting natural gas from frozen methane hydrate?
Japan became the first country to succeed in extracting natural gas from frozen methane hydrate. Methane hydrate is a form of methane gas frozen below the seabed or in permanently frozen ground. The gas field is about 50 km away from japan’s main island, in the Nankai trough.
The official said, “It is the world’s first offshore experiment producing gas from methane hydrate”. The production of methane hydrate means dissociating methane hydrate in the layers and collecting the resultant methane gas through wells and production systems.
