    Bangladesh is the largest cultivator of raw jute. India is the largest producer of jute goods in the world. Jute is grown in near about 83 districts of seven states. In Uttar Pradesh Jute is cultivated in Deoria and Gorakhpur. In India after cotton, Jute is an important natural fibre crop.  Jute crop plays an important role in Indian economy. Raw Jute being biodegradable and annually renewable source. It is also known as environmentally friend crop and helps in the maintenance of the environment and ecological balance. Jute can easily be blended with other natural and manmade fibres. Jute is also principal crop of Uttar Pradesh

    Jute is generally sown during March to May depends on the nature of land and atmospheric condition.  This crop requires humid climate with temperature fluctuating between 24-degree celsius and 38-degree celsius. There are 76 jute mill in India.
