    How Far Man from His Starting Point? if

    A man walked 1 Km towards east and then runs south and walks 5 Km again he run to east and walk 2 Km, after this he turns to north and walks 9 Km. Now how far is he from his starting point?

    2. 4Km
    3. 5 Km
    4. 7 Km

    Answer: (c) 5 km
    Explanation:-

    A man walks in East direction = 1 km
    He walks in the South direction= 5 km
    Again he walks in east direction = 2 km
    After, he walks in the North direction = 9 km

    In right angle triangle
    hypotonuse2 = base2 + perpendicular2     (by Pythagoras theorem)
    Therefore, DE2 = 42+ 32  = 16 + 9 = 25
    DE = 5 km
    Hence, the distance from starting point is 5 km.
