The population of a town increases 10% annually. If its present population is 40,000 find its population after 3 years.

    Answer: (4) 53, 240
    Explanation:-
    The Present population of a town = 40,000
    The population of a town increases 10 % annually.
    Then, population after 1 year = 40,000 + 40,000 x 10/100
    = 40,000 + 4,000
    = 44,000

    The population after two years = 44, 000 + 44,000 x 10/100
    = 44, 000 + 4,400
    = 48, 400

    The population after three years = 48, 400 + 48, 400 x 10/100
    = 48, 400 + 4, 840
    = 53, 240
    Hence, the answer is (4) 53, 240.
