Western Ghats

The Ramosis, the hill tribes of the Western ghats, had not reconciled to British rule and the British pattern of administration. Ramosi Revolt was leaded by the Vasudeo Balwant Fadke (also known as the Robinhood of Maharashtra) in 1822-1829 in Western Ghats.
In 1822, under Chittur Singh, they revolted and the country around Satara. The Ramosis around Poona revolted in 1826 under the leadership of Umaji Naik and his supporter Bapu Trimbakji Sawant.
