    The first “Shatabdi Express” train in India was began in 1988 on the birth centenary (or Shatabdi in Sanskrit) of first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru.

    Interesting facts about Shatabdi Express:

    1. The first Shatabdi Express was introduced between India’s capital New Delhi and Jhansi. Now this train further extended to Habibganj in railways budget 2014-15.
    2.  It is operated by Northern Railway (NR) section of Indian Railways.
    3.  It is the fastest train in India (as on Nov 2014) with top speed of 150 km/h.
