The pie-chart given here shows expenditure incurred by a family on various item and their savings. Study the chart and answer the questions number 1 to 3.

- The ratio of expenditure on food to savings is:

(a) 3:1 (b) 3:2 (c) 2:1 (d) 10:9 - If the expenditure on education is ₹ 1600 more than that of housing then the expenditure on food is:

(a) ₹ 12,000 (b) ₹ 6,000 (c) ₹ 3,333 (d) ₹ 7,000 - If the monthly income is ₹ 36,000 then the yearly savings is:

(a) ₹ 60,000 (b) ₹ 70,000 (c) ₹ 74,000 (d) ₹ 72,000

**1. Answer: (C) 2 : 1**

**Explanation:-**

Expenditure on food = 120 degree

Savings = 60 degree

The ration of expenditure on food to savings = 120/60

= 2/ 1

= 2 : 1

Hence, the answer is (C) 2 : 1.

**2. Answer: (a) Rs. 12, 000**

**Explanation:-**

The expenditure on education = 70 degree

And expenditure on housing = 54 degree

According to the question,

(70 – 54 ) degree = 1600

16 degree = 1600

Therefore, 1 degree = 1600/16

= Rs.100

Then, expenditure on food = 120 degree

= 100 x 120

= Rs. 12000

Hence, the answer is (a) Rs. 12,000.

**3. Answer: (d) Rs. 72, 000**

**Explanation:-
**The monthly income = Rs. 36, 000

Monthly savings = 36000 x 60/360

= 36,000 /6

= Rs. 6000

Therefore, yearly savings = 12 x 6, 000

= Rs. 72, 000

Hence, the answer is (d) Rs. 72,000.
